Board Members 2019-2020

Sandra Dop, PhD, Administrator

Dr. Dop and her husband Dennis are Indianola natives; however, his military career moved them around the country and three times to Germany. Dr. Dop’s experience as an educator spans forty years and includes teaching at all levels from pre-school to college as well as K-12 principal, curriculum director, and superintendent in several states and for the Department of Defense Dependent Schools.  She retired in 2016 from the Iowa Department of Education where she led the Iowa CBE Collaborative. In that capacity she worked with the state legislature, Area Education Agencies, local school districts, and colleges and universities to investigate and promote the innovation necessary to embed 21st century skills into the experiences and opportunities for all Iowa students and develop a framework for transformation to a competency-based system.  She left retirement to join VCA in August 2017.

Karen and I moved to Indianola in 1975 and I opened the Edward Jones Investment Office at that time. Spent the last 40 years serving the investment needs of people in and surrounding Indianola retiring in 2015. Karen and I have been involved in church ministry our entire married life. We currently attend and serve New Heights Church in Indianola.

We have 3 wonderful daughters, two son-in-laws, and 7 grandchildren. Our daughter,Jana and her husband Grant McGraw have 4 children that either have attended VCA or are attending at this time. We have experienced through our grandchildren the value of a bible based education at VCA. We love the way the teachers blend biblical and academic instruction into the children’s experience at VCA!

Wes Rogers, Member, Vice-President                                         Board Term: 05/01/2019-04/30/2020

Sarah Bond, Member, Secretary                                                    Board Term:05/01/2018-04/30/2021

Sarah and her husband Brian have two girls, Berkley, who is in 2nd grade, and Quincey, who attends 3 day pre-kindergarten.  The Bonds have been at Victory since 2016 after moving to Indianola.  Sarah has a bachelor's degree in marketing from Upper Iowa University and works in the IT consulting and sales space for a local Des Moines firm.  The Bonds are blessed by Victory in multiple ways from the incredible teachers in their girls’ lives to the strong academia and biblical foundation that is being built for their future.

Kevin Gould, Member, Treasurer                                                 Board Term: 05/01/2017-04/30/2020

Kevin and his wife Amanda have four children.  Tara and Keira are young adults; Jacob came to Victory as a kindergartener in 2015, when the family moved to Indianola, and Sarah is still too young for school.

Kevin was raised in Washington County, Southeast Iowa and graduated high school in 1996 when he enlisted in the United States Navy and served until 2001 as military police; he deployed overseas twice.  Kevin has a bachelor’s degree in Criminology and Psychology from Buena Vista University and has been employed with the state of Iowa as a Special Agent in the Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI).

The loving Christ centered education and personalized attention have been a massive blessing not only to Jacob, but the entire Gould family.  Kevin sought a position on the school board with the hope of ensuring that more families have the opportunity to be blessed by this great school.  The Gould’s are members at the Indianola Community Church and have been attending for 2 years.

Mindie Dumas, Member                                                                 Board Term: 05/01/2019-04/30/2020

Mindie and her husband Curtis live in rural Indianola and have two children who attend VCA.  Their daughter is starting VCA this year as a kindergartner and their son will be entering the 3rd grade.  When deciding what school our children should attend no doubt we knew we wanted them to go to VCA.  Having a good education with the biblical principles was important to our family.  The one on one time that each child receives is a bonus.

Mindie was raised in Des Moines and moved to Indianola as a freshmen and graduated from Indianola high school.  She works for a large bank as an analytic consultant in the IT area.  She has studied at DMACC and Simpson college.  Their family attends Central Bible Church Assembly of God in Des Moines where Mindie is a Sunday school teacher.
