Hearts of Fire FAQ

1. What is HOF? This has become an annual VCA event that historically has been our biggest fundraiser bringing in upwards of $25,000 in one night. It is a silent auction of baskets full of donated items usually around a common theme. A few unique items get pulled to be auctioned off live to the highest bidder. The complimentary dinner is our way of telling our guests "thank you" for all you do for VCA.

2. Where does all that money go? The money received goes into a general fund to be used for anything that VCA needs. Without this money, VCA would be forced to increase tuition significantly.

3. I'm more of a bargain shopper. Would there be anything there for me? YES! Although some items are sold for more than their value, there are many baskets that are sold for significantly under their retail value.

4. What will be there to buy? Items for sports lovers, power tools, baked goods, VCA summer care, home décor., tickets to sporting events, birthday party vouchers, uniquely crafted items and much, MUCH MORE!

5. Is it meant for parents? YES!! It's our way of saying thank you for investing in a Christian education! We can't do it alone.

6. How much does it cost for a reservation? It's free! Send an email to heartsoffire@vcaiowa.com to reserve your seat today.

7. What do I wear? Some come to dazzle but jeans work, too.

8. I don't want to buy anything. What would I do all night? Sit back and enjoy a free meal with friends, family and fellow parents while the guys from Putney Auction energize the crowd to find the highest bidder!

9. What is the schedule? Doors open at 5:30. Dinner is at 6:30. Silent and live auction to follow. Tell the sitter you'll be home by 10:00.

10. Can I sit by friends? YES!! Make reservations for yourself, friends and family. All are welcome.

11. What if I can't make the event but would like to contribute? There are many ways to contribute to this event. Collecting donations from businesses before the event is always needed. There are also opportunities for you to donate an item for classroom baskets. More info will be coming out regarding classroom basket specifics. If you know a business that would donate, there are letters with Hearts of Fire details available in the office. Email us at heartsoffire@vcaiowa.com with any specific questions.

12. In the past, there have been classroom art projects, will there be any for 2018? YES! Mrs. Williams and Mrs.Hoffman have some beautiful projects planned for the kids to create.

13. What's new for 2018 Hearts of FIre? A coffee bar provided by Crimson Anchor will be available to warm your hands while you browse the baskets. Classroom baskets are returning in 2018 as well!
